By capitalizing
on as many opportunities that I could throughout high school,
I have had the opportunity to receive several scholarships
to help financially with college. I would say the best experience
I had was when I was selected as a finalist for the Coca-Cola
Scholarship.
This was a long
and tough scholarship that represented the top 0.002%
of leaders throughout the nation. Over 137,000 students applied;
however, only 251 students could say that they were a Coca-Cola
Scholar. As a finalist, Coca-Cola flew all 251 delegates to
Atlanta to sight see and interview with judges.
They also allowed
vast amounts of time to interact withother delegates, which
I would have to say was the most influencing and exciting
experiences I have
had. Touring CNN headquarters, Coca-Cola Headquarters, as
well as painting and cleaning up a city park were just a few
things that the scholars did within a four day period. Sitting
with corporate executives from Microsoft while listening to
Desmond Tutu concluded at the banquet was a very enlightening
experience. I will never forget dancing on the river at the
end of the weekend.
